Ok before I begin, let me interpret something: Unlike the reviewers before me, I have actually SEEN this movie, so my review is not based on the graphic current of which the movie is based, nor what the movie might be like based on who’s late the making of it. I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE. Now that thats out the design, onto the superior stuff.

I know a lot of Batman, Superman, and Batman/Superman fans were holding their breath on this one. With all classic the DC Droll character movies coming out lately (some of them not as qualified as others) it was reasonable to occupy that “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies” the movie could have gone either procedure. Well superior thing for the exact fan depraved, this was definitely a hit. I can say I am more then glad with how this came out, and I have every blueprint of buying this DVD and watching it again the day it comes home with me.

One thing is abundantly determined when watching this movie: WB Entertainment, and more importantly, DC Comics actually LISTENS to their fans. One of my (and others) biggest fears in this was that we were going to be hearing some sub-par impart acting for the main characters eager, i.e. Superman, Batman, and Lex Luthor. As with past offerings from WB Entertainment (”Superman: Doomsday” for example) we got some customary casting for the voices of Lex and Sups. That alone detracts greatly from the overall enjoyment of the movie. With Public Enemies however, we have the best voices ever cast for the starring 3 roles: Tim Daily as Superman, Kevin Conroy as Batman, and Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor. For those who could give two flips about these guys, they are the same voices from the accepted shows Justice League Unlimited, Batman The Piquant Series, and Superman the Intriguing Series.

On top of favorable mutter acting, the animation is crisp, bright and unprejudiced tedious fine. Again, faithful to fan feedback, the artists from Justice League Unlimited seem to have had their hands in this project, because the art is graceful remarkable the same (which is by no means a poor thing), and it looks mountainous. Almost straight from the silly.

Speaking of which, as far as the myth goes, sustain in mind while watching this that its an adaptation to the droll. That being said however, the movie stays remarkably faithful to the yarn told in the amusing. Minus a few altered frames, scenes and situations, its like reading the droll all over again, except with no imagination needed to luxuriate in it. The narrative in general is a very beneficial one, highlighting Batman and Superman’s friendship and giving you a notice into how deep it really goes. Granted, you procure more of that in the humorous then you do in the movie, but the movie compensates for the lack of inner dialogue with pleasurable script writing, rotund of the comic exchanges between Sups and Bats and emotional moments and outburst we know and esteem from our popular caped heroes.

This is a huge movie, and you don’t have to have read the silly first in order to be pleased it. Even the review value is moderately high, I can and WILL be watching this again as soon as I can, and some more times after that. This is worth tag, grab it and relish a motion portray work of art.

Peace

So I watched Superman/Batman:Public Enemies twice in one day after I got it. And I will hold this review short as most of the main points have been hit by the people who reveiewed this already (at least the ones that waited till it came out) . So here’s my wreck down and the waste will be final comments.

STORY:

It was adpated from Jeph Loeb’s first arc on the ongoing comical. Appreciate it or loathe it, but it was a very faithful adaptation, streamlining something that was basically a station up for the subsequent arcs as well as Infinite Crisis. It was humorous, and balls to the wall, and the only gripe I had was not explaining why the Robot was a better choice than Luthor’s missles (Acknowledge, robot was made of Metallo, not the guy, the alloy.) But hey all and all I liked what they did.

Characters (drawl and portrayal) :

WHOA! Okay I read the comics and almost forgot the laundry list of vilains who reach out the cracks for the bounty. Batman and Superman were pitch perfect and their banter was vast after seeing them so serious with each other all the time in Justice League and JLU. Tim Daly returning for Superman was astronomical to have, though I’m one of the few that feel George Newburn’s performance as the character is objective as valid. Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown however are the quintessential Batman and Lex Luthor respectively. Props to getting CCH Pounder to return as Amanda Waller even if the charatcer model looked horrendous. Lastly the supporting charatcers were immense. However I wonder why so considerable fuss was made about LeVar “Reading Geordi LeForge’s Rainbow” Burton as Dark Lightning when he had one line. Killer Frost was a throwaway villain that had more to say. *Sigh* Wasted talent.

ART AND ANIMATION:

Again based on the source material, the art style took a muscular turn and was fully mimicing Ed McGuiness’ style where every male looks like a “Masters of the Uninverse” figure. I personally cherish his style and always though it would translate well to the mask. I was mostly true. They made Superman perceive too young, and I reflect it’s because of the eyes. McGuiness does the squinty gaze better than most, and we perceive this in Captain Marvel’s accomplish, and in the comics Superman has the same study sometimes. That plus the cheekbone line makes him recognize a bit older. Well probably out of panic of backlash (last time they keep lines on his face people said he looked too musty, and in “Doomsday” he looked even older) they elft those lines out and he looks too young. Everyone else in my conception looked ravishing. Okay Powergirl’s eyes bugged me too but I was distracted by something else.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I liked it. It was a substantial action flick, and didn’t need too powerful character development. It’s Superman and Batman, if you don;t know who they are why are you even picking up te movie. It’s a buddy flick with wall to wall action. My biggest tell is it felt rushed. At 67 minutes it’s like 15 minutes shorter than previous releases and could have really benefitted from them. That said if you like the characters and you like action this is worth it.

AFTERTHOUGHT:

The preview for the next upcoming lively feature, Jusitce League: Crisis on Two Earths was huge. Yes I know after Public Enemies going wait on to current voices will suck but they got some suitable ones. Label Harmon makes a stunning first-rate Superman, I’m on the fence for Billy Baldwin as Batman (needs to be grittier), James Woods does an amazingly devious and curved Owlman, and Gena Torres was expansive as SuperWoman. Hope you appreciate!

Some of the reviews here appear abit premature (the last couple I read were from people who hadn’t even seen the movie–they judged it from the trailer!) . In many respects Jungle Book 2 could, on the surface, survey like a cash-in similar to the Peter Pan sequel Return to Neverland (that film had been planned as a direct-to-video release originally but turned out looking so favorable that it was released theatrically) . That’s hardly the case with Jungle Book 2.

The animation uses many of the acquire elements from the novel film and incorporates some nice computer generated imagery as well. It’s a bit surprising that folks put a question to the voices of the fresh actors. The recent Jungle Book was released in 1967 (if memory serves) and all the novel actors have been slow for quite some time.

The convey casting for the sequel is quite qualified. Haley Joel Osmond (A.I., The Sixth Sense) makes a delicate Mowogli and John Goodman as Baloo captures his character perfectly without imitating the slack Phil Harris. Equally beneficial are Jim Cummings (in dual roles as both Col Hathi and the snake…whose name escapes me at the moment. Cummings also is the show day disclose for Winnie The Pooh) . Bob Joles manages to seize Sebastian Cabot in his portrayal of Bagheera. It’s a pity his character isn’t more central to the legend like in the new. Phil Collins steps in as Lucky a unique Vulture to torture Sheer Khan with terrible puns, jokes and timing. It’s ironic that Collins plays the role as the quartet of vultures from the new film were caricatures of The Beatles.

The script is both witty and the pacing swift. Children won’t rep bored and, yes, adults objective might be entertained. Jungle Book 2 isn’t a sequel as mighty of an update of the modern film with more contemporary references. The conflict is once again between Mowgli and Shere Khan; Shere Kahn has returned to the jungle looking for revenge against the man cub. Baloo (brilliantly played by John Goodman) is bored out of his mind and rushes out to glean Mowgoli again as he misses his buddy. Mowogli takes to the jungle again with Baloo when Shanti (the itsy-bitsy girl who tempted Mowogli into the man village in the first plot) alerts the town to Baloo’s presence. She believes Baloo to be a unsafe wild animal. At the same time Shere Kahn has entered the village looking for Mowogli and is attacked by the villagers who beget he is the wild animal Shanti alerted them to.

Shanti, feeling guilty for her treatment of her best friend Mowogli, goes in search of Mowogli. In the process, she becomes lost in the jungle but proves she’s every bit as tough as Mowogli. The film rushes to a showdown between Shere Kahn, Baloo Mowogli and Shanti in the city of ruins.

The songs are animated (and, yes, a number of classic songs turn up again slightly jazzed up for unusual audiences. These classics manage to sustain their flair and charm despite the passage of 35 years) . The fluid animation, acting and witty script are not captured very well in the trailer that played leisurely last year and early this year. The Jungle Book 2 is every bit a well-behaved sequel to the novel. While it doesn’t quite live up to the novel film’s spectacle and songs, it recaptures mighty of the fun of the first film without pandering to its audience.

My children were captivated by the film and I found it palatable as well. I have to admit I had my doubts but this delicate production posthaste won me over. It’s definitely worth a visit to the theater to accumulate.

When I wrote these lines, there were 4 reviews on Amazon.com. None of the reviewers seemed to have seen the movie. - Well, I have seen it with my 2 1/2 year traditional son. I also know Disney’s first Jungle Book movie. Now here is what I think:

This movie is resplendent for kids. They will have fun. There are no scenes that I mediate are too scary for shrimp children. My son was doing ravishing. He enjoyed the song and dance scenes a lot and I assume this is why most people like the first movie. Since the “Acquire Necessities” is such a enormous song, it is played about three times (beget your believe thoughts about that) . So, if you want your kids to have a generous day at the movies, send them to this one.

From an adult point of thought I must say that the sage is not very racy. Don’t forget, this is a Disney sequel again. Disney weak to release their sequels only on video and DVD (e.g. Pocahontas 2, Arielle 2, etc.) . But lately they mediate that they should expose them in movie theaters. It’s too awful that Disney tries to warm up successful stories. If you don’t have kids that you want to capture to the movies, don’t peer this one unless you go into the theater not expecting too considerable. The movie is not unpleasant but it’s impartial not as substantial as the guys at Disney assume it should be.

My top 3 Disney exciting movies are:

1. Aladdin (unbiased incredible!!!!!)

2. The Beauty and the Beast

3. The Minute Mermaid

It’s about time that something like this is produced, and what better director to utilize than Chris Eyre as director? He is at his finest in this work, capturing foggy rivers, haze-free sunsets, mammoth forests filled with flora and pigs and actors dressed in appropriate era clothing. The quality of the film itself is righteous of awards. This is truly a gift from his heart.

Benjamin Bratt’s gentle announce adds to the narration. He doesn’t acquire overly emotinal when telling the narrative, as the scenes you notice at the same time say it all. You are left to yourself to realize the brutality of that time.

This is a three-disc site totalling about 470 minutes. Produced in widescreen, even on my CRT place I obtain a near-full veil.

The first episode, “After the Mayflower” opens with 1621, the year the first settlers arrived off the shores of southeastern Massachusetts. The research that went into this work is wonderful, with many scenes spoken in the native language, in this case, Nipmuc. The first Thanksgiving is realistically portrayed: not with turkeys and cranberries, but with venison and wild berries.

The second episode, “Tecumseh’s Vision” demonstrates how the War of 1812 came to be: Natives, who had sided with the British during the American Revolution (can you blame them? ) now found themselves on foreign land. They were pushed westward, west of Appalachia, where more battles ensued with the settlers and frontiersmen and trappers from France along the Substantial Lakes place.

The Wabash and Tippecanoe rivers absorb huge history for both the Shawnee and the people who eventually settled along its banks. The “Vision” however, was the loss of the first peoples who had lived along its banks.

The “Move of Tears” completes the second disc.

The most emotional episodes are on the third disc, “Geronimo” and especially “Wounded Knee,” the episode that explains in 1973 news footage and interviews with some of the participants the reasons for the “occupation” that resulted in one death. Wounded Knee encapsulates the forming of the Native activism, when all tribes united to keep their languages and cultures and demanded equal rights before the law.

If there is one flaw in this production it is that it doesn’t include more episodes of the other tribes that suffered: the Nez Perce at Mammoth Hole, for example, or the Battle of Litte Stout Horn. Like one tribal member mentioned in the “Wounded Knee” episode: “Every tribe has its memory of violence (with the US government) ” and to document them all would steal up grand more footage and disc location than is given here.

Still, it’s a pleasing production that leaves any viewer sighing “Wow!” at the ruin.

This documentary is from the Native American’s point of notion, but the transcript does not impartial weigh heavily with the Indians: facts are not bent or left out. When enraged Wampanoag went from village to village to extinguish settlers, we know that they had reached a boiling point with Primitive World trespassers that would only secure worse as the years went on.

The reviewer before me gave an fine blow-by-blow of the series…and I concur with that assessment. However, I want to add something more ample describe about what this series suggests.

This favorable series about the Native American sage will leave many surprised to the achieve of “Gee, I had no conception.”

As a white American with some experience in tribal matters; this review is not only a recommendation for this series, but a plea of sorts with the general public to learn and understand more about the culture and lives of our Native American sisters and brothers.

I say, with all due respect: “PLEASE wake up.”

Many of the stories in this series, which we hear from the Native American perspective, we learned in school through the Anglo lens with the following overtones: Indian savage… Indian unpleasant… Troublemaker… Nonconformist… Enemy of progress… these were the stories we read in school, along with watching the poor guy “Injun Joe” on the movie cover in that 1970s Disney version of Tom Sawyer.

Throw out all that garbage you have learned. Halt. Rewind. Reboot your hard drive…now learn the truth through this improbable and educational series.

I notice this series as merely an introduction to what should be a higher calling for us as Americans; Anglo, Native, Dismal, Asian, or Latino. For those of you who are inspired by the stories told in this DVD series, it’s your job to go out and examine more of the truth that is hinted at in what are a collection of five main stories for each disk: Before the Mayflower, Tecumseh’s Vision, The Slouch of Tears, Geronimo, and Wounded Knee.

At the very least ~ if you have a pulse ~ it should change your perspective on who we are as Americans. It seems to inaugurate mellow and still with the first Thanksgiving, but the legend sadly and rapidly turns sour.

Instead of upholding and learning something from Native Americans (gee, imagine that), religion (of course) misunderstandings (wow, imagine that again), and operating on obsolete idea systems bag in the procedure of peace and trigger a defective domino attain. You’ll soon understand why we’re a spiritually and culturally poorer nation than we should have been after witnessing the accounts of leaders drunk with power, the U.S. Government’s land grabs, and a crude, wrong, systematic decimation of tribal America through bait & switch treaty tactics, blatantly illegal relocation of entire tribes, boarding school brainwashings, abandonment, genocide, and ethnic cleansing.

The accumulation of the stories will obtain you want to vomit.

Simply place, the series will leave you pondering how it’s a far bellow from the more culturally rich, glorious, diverse, shared, and equitable society that we should have inherited.

It’s the stories and hardships that aren’t told - which bear more truths that substantiate those told in the series - that need to be discovered through more film, books, and perhaps some personal experience of your contain. Taking an active role in the preservation, enlightenment, and befriend of thriving Native American cultures and their future could be one of the most considerable and personally rewarding decisions you ever construct.

Seek out a Native American cultural center in your portion of the country; build it a modest staycation of sorts in a lean economy. Relieve a pow wow ceremony or the like that allows for outside visitors. Assist local tribes. Give to their schools. If your a doctor or looking at being one, believe putting time in at an Indian health center - a dwelling that could REALLY employ your back.

You might even inspect something about yourself…and the road of discovery and reeducating yourself can inaugurate with this DVD series.
